GETTING TO THE HEART OF MUSIC

An Evening with Bob is an event series organised by soundlounge and presented by Bob Harris, discussing music supervision and sound more widely, running monthly from October 2019.

Music supervision does not always run as smoothly as it could. There are many roles involved on both the music and advertising sides, but they don’t communicate with one another as much as they should and the way in which music is selected isn’t always clear. If you’ve ever wondered how these decisions – that can really impact the way you work – are made, now’s your opportunity to ask the question.

Voyage of discovery

Bob Harris is on a journey to find out the answers to the same questions. He’s partnered with soundlounge to better understand it. He says: “I wanted to explore the world of music supervision because I believe that the experience of my fifty years in the music industry will bring constructive thought and creative insight to the intersection of pictures and sound.”

Meet the experts

In each event Bob will meet with experts in particular areas of music, advertising, neuroscience and behavioural economics and ask them to share their understanding and insights on the way in which music affects people.

Launch Event

At the first event, Bob will be joined by Les Binet from adam&eveDDB and Tara Austin from Kindred, in front of an invited audience of influential guests from advertising, music, broadcast and media, accompanied by live music from Cassa Jackson, with guest performance from 10cc’s Graham Gouldman.

The series will have its own dedicated website, where we will be posting updates and videos as the events happen – both footage of the main conversations and of interviews with the stellar guest speakers and invited audience.

Nordoff Robbins: Life-Changing Music

Donations will be raised throughout the event series for Nordoff Robbins, the UK’s largest independent music therapy charity, helping to enrich the lives of people with life-limiting illnesses, disabilities and feelings of isolation with the power of music.
